Finally an update!

Apologies for not updating the blog for a while, its been a really busy period, trying to get loads of things done before Spring arrives!

I'll just give a brief update on what has been going on.
Woodland thinning has continued, producing plenty of firewood for future timber sales as well as some lovely areas of woodland. Firewood deliveries have also kept us busy with loads going to a number of local residents.
The photograph below shows part of the old railway line that was until recently very dark and unwelcoming, it has been opened up to offer a much more pleasant walk, bike or horse ride. It will also benefit wildlife such as butterflies as it will be warmer and lighter.
All the timber has now been stacked and the brash has been burned on a series of fires by our Volunteers.

A couple of weeks ago we had some very strange weather, it was very cold, then it rained, then it went very cold again. This left everything coated in a thick layer of ice, this meant that when a light breeze blew through the woods at night eerie creaking noises could be heard!! The scene the following day was stunning with clear blue skies and the ice gleaming in the sunshine. A better photographer would have got some brilliant photos, i tried and came up with these

There has also been some clearance of scrub in the car park on the outskirts of Much Wenlock, lots of Marathon planning, filling of bird feeders at the hide, occasional meetings and courses to attend and some litter picking. More to come on the Marathon and Half Marathon soon.
