Bird ringing

Stuart and Linda from Chelmarsh bird ringers came to the bird hide at Presthope this morning  to do a few hours of bird ringing. Using mist  nets birds are caught, ringed, weighed, and measured before being released to continue with their winter feeding.
Birds ringed were
22 Blue Tits,
10 Great Tits,
5 Marsh Tits,
5 Nuthatch,
4 Coal Tits,
1 Robin,
1 Dunnock.

A few of the birds had previously been ringed on Wenlock Edge and some were ringed as chicks in nestboxes, it is great to see that some of them are still alive and in the area ready themselves to breed in the Spring.
